What do we think?

Here are the responses we have gotten to this month's question about Mothers.

What is the best advice you ever got from your mother?

To always be honest & good things will come my way. And they have! I am blessed!!!

To always act like a lady (and she always did!!!) Sandy O'Hehir

To be generous to others

Without actually saying it, she taught me to stay positive and work hard.

"Hold your children with open arms"

Mind your manners. Now I'm all grown up and (still) a freak about manners! Diane Lane

Laugh, it beats crying.

"Remember who you are and keep your nose clean." My mother died suddenly when I was in my early 20's - 40 years ago. I have always been envious of my friends who grew into adulthood and had a long, mature relationship with the person who brought them into the world. I think of my mother every day and now see so much of her when I ctch a glance of myself in the mirror. I believe she would be proud of me.

Driving your children and their friends around is not a burdensome duty but rather an opportunity to spend quality time together.

Always stand tall no matter how small someone is trying to make you feel!

Simply, the Golden Rule...Treat others as you would have them treat you. It has always worked for me.

"It's just as easy to fall in love with a rich man as it is with a poor man." "As long as there is life, there is hope."

Regarding husbands, lovers etc, eyeing other women.... "Honey, when they stop looking they're dead, and as long as they're just looking there's nothing to dread"

When betting, have it to lose or don't bet. Works for lots of areas of life!

Make sure you have on clean underwear when you leave the house! I thought it was very strange when she told me this, and I still think that. But, oh, how I would like to be able to hear her say it again. I miss her every day, but she laughed easily, and a lot, and I got that from her. She loved life, and her children and grandchildren, her neighbors, friends, and relatives. Happy Mother's Day to all moms!

Follow my intuition!

"If you can't say something nice about someone - don't say anything at all."

wear clean underpants at all times

Always stand up for yourself and don't let anyone push you around.

Travel in twos.

My mother was always honest with me, no matter what I asked her. She inspired me to always be honest, too, even when it was uncomfortable.

If they get the milk free they won't buy the cow

Tell the truth

There is nothing that stands out. At 92 year old she still is the best mom. If I continue to follow her examples I will be a great mom too.
